Crossbox, Eco-Friendly House by CG Architects

 

The Crossbox by French Architect firm CG Architects is an eco-friendly prefabricated single family residence that has been made by recycling old shipping containers and making them livable.

“This project is a prototype of a Three-dimensional modular and industrialized house, built with four 40’shipping containers. The aim of this project is to build a low cost architect’s housing with high focus on environmental issues. With a industrial approach, the construction time is reduced, as the prices are getting down.

Each volume presents a very simple design: living area on the ground floor, and three bedrooms on the first floor. The crossing of the two boxes provides a covered entrance and a carport.”

The 911 Black Edition will be  limited to 1,911 vehicles and it consists of  both Coupe and Cabriolet versions of the 911, “blacked out” in both exterior paint job and interior appointments. Added are sports design steering wheel, 19-inch wheels found on 911 Turbo II, and a special emblem on the dashboard marking the edition. Under the hood, you will find the same 345 horsepower, 3.6 liter engine, able to reach 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds. Limited to only 1,911 units, the Porsche 911 Carrea Black Edition will be available in April 2011 at the same cost of a basic model.

Bahia House

Recently, a breathtaking residence by architect Marcia Kogan has been finished in the Brazilian city of Salvador that lies about 1700 away from the Rio de Janeiro coastline. The house was designed to fit in the surrounding nature what is obvious by its shape and used materials. Linear walls are barely visible whilst transversal walls are made from stone that cools the air in the interior. A massive sloping-roof is supported by a number of wooden pillars. An interesting fact is that the ceiling get a wooden texture that looks more like a flooring. Structured wooden panels provide needed privacy and filter the sunlight. The most of the house are public areas that are connected with the exterior, but one can find a number of strictly private zone – bedrooms, bathrooms. Elements like stone walls, big spaces well alight, wooden vertical facade are typical for this architect that puts the comfort of owners and living environment at the first place. The house is complemented by a swimming pool situated at the end of the parcel.
